Job Overview

Lead Instructor/Flight Manager position at Grand Forks, ND campus. Compensation: $50,000 annual, Exempt; 40 hours per week; on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Manager/Flight Instructor:
    Management:
    Maintain AIMS Pilot Manager duties and responsibilities; counsels students and CFIs to improve performance; mentor students and CFIs; monitor and maintain CFI compliance with FARs and Safety Policies and Procedures; assist with CFI hiring and training; suggest improvements for UND Flight Operations; assist in other duties as assigned; conduct student review boards; conduct observations of CFIs.
  • Coordinate between management, CFIs and students; ensure CFIs and students are aware of organizational goals; participate as a “Manager on Duty”; promote and participate in SMS culture; communicate with other UND departments; assist in other duties as assigned.
  • Flight training and stage checks: 550 hours of student contact time; conduct advanced stage checks.
  • Safety: promote and participate in SMS culture; conduct accident, incident, occurrence reviews; SRA involvement; participate in committees (ERT, Safety Council, SMS, ATC); assist the Director of Aviation with requests and projects.
Qualifications
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; ability to make sound training and safety decisions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent flight training/experience.
  • Experience with FARs and Part 141 Pilot School Operations.
  • Required FAA Ratings:
    • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating
    • Single and Multi Engine Ratings
    • Certified Flight Instructor with Instrument Rating – Airplane
    • Class III Medical Rating
  • Criminal History Background Check completion.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-engine Instructor Rating.
