Nurse Extern - Nursing Support - PRN - Rotating

GENERAL SUMMARY

* Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse, performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient using the nursing process.

* Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.

* Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

* Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.

REQUIREMENTS/LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION

REQUIRED:

* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

* Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing.

* The completion of two clinical rotations, MUST be Med/Surg 1 and Med Surg 2 (in an acute care setting). Fundamentals being included in these (check with your clinical instructor if unsure).

* BLS

To Remain Active in the Nurse Extern Role, You Must:

* Actively be enrolled in a nursing program

* Successfully complete each course

* Provide transcripts to Nurse Manager after each course

* Provide a copy of your plan of work to your Nurse Manager

* If at any point the extern does not meet their academic institution's standard for continued enrollment in the school of nursing classes, their employment as an extern will be rescinded.

* Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment with appropriate technique/device.

* Successful completion of 180-day introductory period required to achieve knowledge of policies relative to job duties and patient care unit.

PREFERENCES:

* Graduation from a nursing school within 12-18 months in good standing.

* Minimum 2 - 8-12-hour shifts per pay period, no holidays.

April 2026 or May 2026 (April 27, 2026 to April 29, 2026 and/or May 4, 2026 to May 6, 2026)

* Required orientation the first week.
