Part-Time Days 7am - 7:30pm Monday thru Friday & every 3rd weekend. Hospital:

Observation.
- Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
- Demonstrate clinical competence within the framework of the Seven Dimensions of Patient Care and Benner s Domains of Nursing Practice; coordinate development of a multi-disciplinary plan of care and ensure appropriate length of stay, resource use, and quality outcomes.
- Provide patient care that respects patients rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs. Assess information needs, plan and implement patient teaching, and evaluate educational interventions. Apply professional and interpersonal communication to alleviate fears and anxiety; use pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches to ensure comfort and pain relief; involve patient and family in care planning.
- Collaborate with patient/family, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans for continued care needs.
- Complete assessments, identify risk factors (fall, skin breakdown, VTE, aspiration) and initiate appropriate interventions (e.g., SKINN Bundle, Fall Prevention, SCD). Perform medication reconciliation on admission or changes in level of care; establish and document the nursing care plan with patient/family.
- Initiate problems and outcomes lists (plan of care) based on medical diagnosis and patient needs; monitor and document patient response and progress toward outcomes.
- Educate patients regarding treatment plans, safety, medications, and self-care; document education activities and coordinate with Case Manager for referrals prior to discharge.
- Review discharge plans/instructions with patients prior to discharge and ensure appropriate follow-up is arranged. Ensure core discharge instructions are provided for CHF patients.
- Document patient care according to established guidelines; administer therapies and medications per policy; initiate and/or assist with patient care activities including activities of daily living; maintain safety and comfort.
- Establish and maintain peripheral IV therapy; obtain body fluid specimens; perform blood sampling if no phlebotomist is available; perform capillary blood glucose monitoring.
- Administer medications, IVs, and blood products according to established procedures; prepare patients for surgery or other invasive procedures; perform or assist with procedures per standards of care and nursing practice.
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment (IV pumps, PCA pumps, epidural pumps, feeding pumps, beds) per manufacturers instructions and nursing procedures.
- Monitor patient responses, document progress, review chart orders with physicians, and communicate treatment plans; monitor vital signs, labs, I&O, and glucose; assess changes and intervene appropriately.
- Assess and manage pain, educate on pain relief options, and integrate pain management into discharge planning.
- Recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies; perform CPR and coordinate emergency resources as needed.
- Provide family support during crisis and maintain quality health care practices; communicate with other professionals, departments, and physicians to ensure patient progression.
- Monitor length of stay and coordinate with case management to address potential LOS/discharge issues.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and provide respectful, professional communication with patients and families.
- Promote a physically safe environment, use universal precautions, and exercise cost-effective use of supplies and resources.
- Participate in teaching, mentoring of student nurses, and orientation; contribute to quality improvement activities and department/unit governance.
- Self-evaluate performance and plan for continual improvement; complete annual safety and unit-specific education requirements.
- Contribute to a healthy work environment by respectful communication, resolving conflicts, and supporting team members as needed.
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire or job transfer date required.
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (Basic Life Support) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire or job transfer date required, or Certified Instructor.
- Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
