Registered Nurse – Emergency Department – Full-Time (Afternoons)

Hospital: Henry Ford Health Genesys

Location: Grand Blanc, Michigan

Schedule: Full‑time, 11:00 am – 11:30 pm, Monday thru Friday & every 3rd weekend

Sign‑On Bonus: $10,000

Shift: Evening job

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, applying professional judgment, teamwork, and evidence‑based practice to support high‑quality outcomes. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient‑centered care while maintaining safety, cost‑effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory standards.

• Use independent professional judgment and the nursing process to provide delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care plans in accordance with nursing problem care sets, clinical practice guidelines, and regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate length of stay and quality outcomes.
• Provide patient care reflecting respect for patient rights, dignity, and preferences; deliver education; alleviate fears and anxiety.
• Collaborate with patient/family, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans.
• Maintain assessment and documentation through NIC/NOC, risk‑factor assessment (falls, skin breakdown, VTE, aspiration), medication reconciliation, and admission assessments.
• Implement therapeutic regimens, basic nursing procedures, and medical interventions; ensure appropriate monitoring of physiologic parameters.
• Identify and respond to acute changes in respiratory, neurologic, cardiac, & urinary status using SBAR and other tools; provide life‑sustaining interventions such as CPR when indicated.
• Perform emergency equipment checks and assist with procedures according to standards of care.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to ensure continuity of care and appropriate progression through the system.
• Monitor patient length of stay, report potential issues to case manager & nurse manager.
• Respect patient confidentiality, provide culturally competent care, and enforce safety protocols (restraints, universal precautions).
• Assist in evaluating products and procedures; participate in quality monitoring and improvement activities.
• Mentor students and orient new staff; support a healthy work environment through respectful communication and conflict resolution.
• Maintain required safety and unit education; uphold nursing standards and performance expectations.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) provider or BLS Instructor credentialed within 90 days of hire.
• Graduate of an approved professional RN program.
• One year minimum nursing experience (ER preferred).
• Approximately 3–9 months on‑the‑job orientation to acquire unit policies and procedures.
