Overview
Registered Nurse | Graduate Nurse – Henry Ford Health Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, Michigan. FT Nights 7p-7:30a Weeknight & Every 3rd Weekend. Sign On Bonus: $10,000.

- Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
- Coordinate development of a multi-disciplinary plan of care in accordance with Nursing Problem Care Sets (Core Outcomes and Core Intervention Sets) and/or clinical practice guidelines, age-specific requirements and professional and regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate length of stay, use of resources, and achievement of quality outcomes.
- Provide patient care that reflects respect for patient rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs. Assess information needs across the continuum, plan and implement patient teaching, and evaluate effectiveness of educational interventions. Involve patient, family, significant others in plan of care.
- Collaborate with patient/family, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans for continued care needs.
- Adhere to Standards of Performance and the Seven Domains of Nursing Practice; apply elements of Signature Care in daily interactions with patients (introduce self, discuss plan of care, explain meds and treatments, provide teaching, assess needs, and complete admissions/shift assessments).
- Complete assessments for risk factors (fall, skin breakdown, VTE, aspiration) and initiate appropriate initiatives (e.g., SKINN Bundle, Fall Prevention Plan, SCD); perform Medication Reconciliation on admission/change in level of care; establish, direct, coordinate and document the care plan with patient/family.
- Initiate problems and outcomes list (plan-of-care) based on medical diagnosis and patient needs; monitor, document, and report patient response and progress toward outcomes.
- Document nursing interventions (NIC) and progress toward outcomes (NOC); provide patient education and evaluation each shift as required.
- Educate patient regarding treatment plan, safety measures, medications, and self-care; document education activities; work with Case Manager to ensure appropriate referrals prior to discharge.
- Review discharge plans/instructions with patient prior to discharge and ensure appropriate follow-up is arranged.
- Ensure that core measures and discharge instructions are given to all CHF patients. Document patient care according to established guidelines.
- Administer therapeutics and perform basic nursing procedures (e.g., dressing changes, catheterization, NG tube insertion, suctioning) per policy; initiate and coordinate all patient care activities including activities of daily living and other services for patient comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Establish peripheral IV therapy; obtain body fluid specimens as per procedure; obtain blood specimens if no phlebotomist is in the area; perform capillary glucose monitoring.
- Administer medications, IVs, and blood products per policy; prepare patients for surgery or invasive procedures; perform or assist with procedures per standards of care and nursing practice.
- Operate and troubleshoot pumps and equipment; monitor patient responses and adjust care as needed; communicate with physician and team regarding patient changes and treatment plans.
- Maintain patient safety and confidentiality; actively participate in quality monitoring and improvement activities; mentor student nurses and orient new staff; complete required safety and education requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff; communicate expectations; support a healthy work environment and handle workload changes as needed.
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Certified BLS Provider (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer date; or Certified Instructor.
- Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
