Allied Vaughn is looking for a qualified and motivated Archives Specialist to work on-site in Grand Blanc, MI with our client in the Automotive Industry.
Description- Maintain archive policies and procedures for asset accession, assist with processing various collections, research, storage and long-term preservation of archive collections.
- Ensure content reflects current format preservation specs in format for DAM, client needs and/or final physical storage.
- Rehouse content in archival safe quality materials for final preservation.
- Catalog assets in archive management system.
- Respond to archive inquiries and requests including asset retrieval, historical research, Subject Matter Expert support, and fact checking.
- Assist with digitizing documents, books, and other misc. assets using scanning equipment such as a flatbed or overhead scanning equipment.
- Administer archive management system including users, site hierarchy and content changes.
- Develop and proactively drive ongoing asset collection processes with internal business partners.
- Identify and recommend items to retain, purge or acquire to fill gaps.
- Identify, acquire and catalog new assets, as needed.
- Conduct ongoing review of scope of new assets to be housed in the archive.
- Gather workflow data from supporting teams to assemble and report weekly metrics.
- Support special events, tours, exhibitions, and patron support needs.
- At least 1-2 years’ experience working in an archive, library, or similar.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the creation and management of electronic records, especially in an archive management system. As well as a general understanding of metadata standards.
- Ability to manage workload in a timely, effective manner with minimum supervision.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others, with a high degree of accuracy and sensitivity to confidentiality.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in a professional environment.
- Ability to lift, carry and place artifacts on shelves, including overhead, up to 40 pounds without assistance.
- Degree or certificate in archival practices.
- Automotive industry experience.
- Proficiency with archival metadata standards (e.g., DACS, EAD) and finding aid development a plus.
