Nursing Assistant – Acute Rehab – Part Time Days 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Every Other Weekend)

Location:

Grand Blanc, Michigan (Henry Ford Health Genesys Hospital)

Schedule:

Part Time – Days 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, every other weekend.

Sign On Bonus:
Up to $3,000.

Overview
  • Facilitate the provision of patient care by performing basic, age appropriate nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide care for the age group(s) served.
  • Employ interpersonal skills and teamwork to support unit functioning.
  • Maintain a positive, compassionate attitude and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Show willingness to assist and flexibility in responding to patient/unit needs.
  • Communicate unit problems following appropriate chain of command and actively participate in problem solving.
  • Attend 75% of department meetings and in‑services regularly.
  • Perform other related duties as requested and as directed.
Responsibilities (Summary of Duties)
  • Assist RN/LPN with functions to promote optimum patient health: hygiene activities, mobility, transfers, turning, skin care, non‑sterile treatments, pain monitoring, and repositioning.
  • Perform patient monitoring: vital signs, elimination patterns, I&O records, weight changes, and report abnormalities promptly.
  • Support dietary services: assist with meals, track intake, and report eating concerns.
  • Transport patients safely and use proper transfer techniques.
  • Maintain a safe environment: identify hazards, use universal precautions, and report equipment issues.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety protocols.
  • Comply with department, medical center policies, and attendance of new employee orientation.
  • Mobility to move from room to room, between departments, and to rapidly initiate patient care evacuation procedures; ability to lift, move, support, transfer, and assist patients, utilizing proper transfer techniques such as standing pivot, sliding board, 2‑3 person lifts, and sheet assists.
  • Manual dexterity to perform patient treatments, manipulate tools, instruments, and commonly used equipment.
  • Organizational skills, observation, problem solving, collecting patient data, identifying and responding to unusual or abnormal situations.
  • Interpersonal and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, reach, and carry out routine cleaning functions.
  • Ability to push, pull carts weighing several hundred pounds and work from ladders.
  • Working conditions:

    setting is generally a clinical nursing unit; work requires prolonged standing, working, lifting; may be exposed to patient illness, communicable diseases, blood hazards, hazardous chemicals; duties must be completed regardless of frequent interruptions.
  • Orientation requirements: must attend new employee and department orientations.
  • Essential functions:

    ensure safety of patients, co‑workers, and the environment; identify, eliminate or mitigate hazards; comply with safety, universal precautions, and equipment maintenance; practice proper body mechanics.
Education & Experience Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified BLS Provider (American Heart Association) within 90 days of hire.
  • Current Michigan certification as a Nurse Aide or completed first year of nursing clinical rotation.
  • Optional: prior 6 months acute care Nurse Aide or Patient Care Technician experience.
  • Internal transferees are exempt from certification renewal.
