Location:
Grand Blanc, Michigan. Sign On Bonus: $3,000. Department:
Float.
Facilitate the provision of patient care by performing basic, age-appropriate nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide care for the age group(s) served.

- Patient Care
Skills: - Assist the RN/LPN with functions to promote, restore, and maintain optimum patient health.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of a healthy work environment by: i. Accepting professional direction and leadership of the RN; ii. Communicating with RN about progress, problems encountered, or work completed.
- Perform patient hygiene activities (e.g., bathing, foot care, shaving, hair care).
- Assist with patient mobility activities (ambulation, transfers).
- Assist with transfer of patients from bed to stretcher and vice versa.
- Assist with keeping patients clean, dry, and regularly turned to prevent skin breakdown.
- Perform non-sterile treatments.
- Assist monitoring and reporting of patient pain levels; assist patients to achieve optimum comfort levels (e.g., repositioning).
- Ensure supplies are available by retrieving and returning equipment per procedure.
- Perform other related duties as requested and directed.
- Patient Care Skills (Inpatient/Outpatient Monitoring):
- Obtain patient-related information and reports and document per policy (vital signs, basic patient care, valuables).
- Observe and report patient elimination patterns; empty Foley bags and record output.
- Complete I&O records; obtain and record patient weights.
- Assist with preparation of patient for surgery or special procedures; collect non-sterile specimens.
- Recognize and report abnormal or unusual situations promptly (pain, respiratory distress, skin changes, etc.).
- Utilize computer entry as directed.
- Observe patients in restraints for comfort and safety per policy; ensure restraints are not restrictive and offer meals, fluids, and toileting opportunities per policy.
- Assist patients with meals and snacks: prepare for meal service, assist with menu selection and service, collect soiled trays, deliver snacks, record intake, communicate eating problems, and perform other related dietary duties.
- Transport patients safely and efficiently; use proper transfer techniques and observe patient condition, notifying appropriate personnel of changes in status.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and coworkers; recognize unsafe conditions and report to supervisor; use Universal Precautions to protect patients and self; monitor at-risk patients for falls; report broken/damaged equipment; operate equipment safely; dispose of biomedical waste properly; practice proper body mechanics.
