Nursing Assistant/Surgical, Oncology, General Medicine, Hospice (2S) - Full‑Time Days

Join the Henry Ford Health team as a Nursing Assistant in Oncology, General Medicine, Hospice (2S). Full‑time, day shift, Monday–Friday with every other weekend.

• Full‑time days – 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday–Friday & every other weekend

Facilitate patient care by performing basic, age‑appropriate nursing care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide care for the age group(s) served.

• Patient Care
  
  Skills:
  
  Assist RN/LPN with functions to promote, restore, and maintain optimum patient health (patient hygiene, mobility, transfer, nutrition, monitoring, non‑sterile treatments, pain management, supply availability, related duties).
• Dietary assistance:
  Meal service support, menu selection, snack delivery, intake documentation, communication of eating problems, ordering of food items, other related duties.
• Transportation:
  Safe transport of patients, proper transfer techniques, observation of condition, appropriate notification.
• Safety:
  Maintain safe environment, recognize unsafe conditions, universal precautions, experience with fall/injury prevention, damaged equipment reporting, mechanical equipment operations, biomedical waste disposal, proper body mechanics.
• Quality Improvement:
  Participate in QI activities (safety, universal precautions, corrective action plans, cost containment, improvement plans).
• Environmental Services:
  Limited housekeeping in select areas as needed.
• Compliance:
  Adhere to department, medical center policies & procedures, standards, rules of conduct, absenteeism & tardiness policies.
• Essential Functions:
  
  Mobility, transfer techniques, patient treatments, patient data collection, communication, routine cleaning, cart handling, ladder work, manual dexterity, organizational skills.
• Working Conditions:
  
  Prolonged standing, lifting, exposure to patient illness, communicable diseases, blood hazards, hazardous chemicals; duties completed regardless of interruptions.
• Orientation Requirements:
  New employee orientation; department orientations.

• Certified BLS Provider (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association, credential within 90 days of hire.
• Current Michigan certification as a Nurse Aide required at hire; or 6‑month acute care Nurse aide/Patient Care Technician experience; or completed the first year of clinical rotation in a school of nursing.
• High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required.
