Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in home, community and facility settings.
- Execute all treatment protocols as defined in the client behavior plan and skill acquisition program.
- Collect program data and assist the BCBA
- Provide 1:1 teaching to client based on plan provided from BCBA
- Collect, record, and summarize client performance data
- Effectively communicate with parents/guardians regarding the client’s progress as instructed by the BCBA
- Utilize safe and appropriate handling procedures when working with clients
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
- Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents, guardians, outside professionals as directed by the BCBA
- Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with children with autism is preferred
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets
- Effective time management skills and ability to multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, etc.
- Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics
- Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA laws
- Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology in order to perform job responsibilities
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling)
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for periods of time
- Must be willing and able to implement physical management techniques and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan while working with clients that may have challenging behavior
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have a valid Michigan’s Driver’s License
