Greet patients and perform a variety of clerical and service duties, such as answering telephones, directing calls, communicating information, scheduling outpatient procedures and tests, maintaining logs, reports and files, assisting physicians, and distributing X‑ray reports and films. Process and maintain images through the AGFA System while maintaining a clean, orderly and safe work area. Perform other related duties as requested by authorized personnel.
Responsibilities- Greet patients, answer telephone, and direct calls.
- Direct patients to proper areas.
- Respond to requests for information about charges, records, tests and procedures.
- Communicate information to hospital staff, patients, physicians, doctor offices, clinics, etc.
- Schedule outpatient procedures and tests.
- Prepare and distribute schedules (including surgery schedules).
- Create hard copies of X‑ray film jackets for mammography and angiography patients.
- Receive and distribute films by person and by mail.
- File mammogram reports into each jacket.
- Photocopy and transmit reports via fax and teleradiology equipment to physicians, doctors' offices, etc.
- Respond to requests for information about physicians' reports using digital dictation equipment.
- Ensure that all STATS and ASAP requests are processed quickly and given to proper staff.
- Make hard copy films from the AGFA System.
- Process all subpoenas and arrange for lawyer payment before copies are made.
- Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
- Send outside films back to offices, clinics and hospitals.
- Retrieve outside films from outside facilities.
- Retrieve previous jackets from campuses.
- Perform other related duties as requested by authorized personnel.
- Ability to be mobile, have normal manual dexterity.
- Effective oral, written and telephone communication with staff, physicians and patients.
- Ability to plan, follow directions and problem‑solve.
- Ability to teach, learn the hospital, radiology computer system and AGFA Network.
- Work conditions: sits at a computer, turns, stands and stoops; reaches for and lifts objects such as heavy film and jackets; will perform other related duties as required.
- Orientation requirements: participation in new employee orientation and Center/departmental orientation.
- General description statement clarifying that this is not exhaustive and that supervisors retain control.
- High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required.
- Preferred courses in filing, typing, basic computer skills, general office procedures and medical terminology.
- Prefer related office experience.
- Must be able to read, write and follow oral and/or written instructions; demonstrate discretion in handling confidential information; possess initiative, tact, diplomacy and dependability.
- Must establish and maintain rapport with patients, employees, supervisors and external contacts.
- Physically and mentally capable of performing all duties of the position; neat personal appearance.
