Job DescriptionThe Alternative Education Teacher at Sni Valley Academy provides leadership, supervision, and management for the school’s educational programs designed to serve students whose needs are not met in traditional high school settings. The Teacher ensures a safe, supportive, and flexible learning environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, and successful post-secondary transitions for all students.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManagement
- Develop and maintain a positive school culture focused on relationships, accountability, and student success.
- Coordinate scheduling, student programs, and daily operations of the program.
- Continuous program evaluation.
Student Support and Engagement
- Work with counselors and administration to identify and support at-risk students.
- Implement restorative practices, intervention systems, and behavioral supports.
- Promote student attendance, engagement, and graduation completion. Enforce the student attendance policy with students and parents.
- Assist students in obtaining part-time employment. Ensuring students work for at least 15 hours per week, and the hours must be tracked and counted for attendance and credit.
Curriculum and Instruction
- Ensure high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards.
- Support alternative instructional strategies such as credit recovery, blended learning, and flexible scheduling.
- Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements.
- Register students in the Missouri Options Program for the Hi-Set Exam.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of alternative education models and intervention systems.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students facing academic, behavioral, or social challenges.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and restorative discipline approaches.
- Ability to analyze student data and implement improvement strategies.
- Ability to support diverse student needs and alternative instructional models.
- Knowledge of credit recovery, intervention strategies, and student support systems.
Working Conditions
- Conduct enrollment meetings with students and parents prior to starting the program.
- School environment with frequent interaction with students, parents, and families.
- Ability to respond to student behavioral and emotional needs in a supportive manner.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $43,000 to $92,000 Per Year
