Job DescriptionThe qualified candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree and required certification in special education to teach in the state of Missouri.
The person in this position will provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibilities for developing special education students' success in the following areas.

- Interpersonal Skills
The teacher will also supervise students within the classroom and other assigned areas, develop lesson plans, and deliver group and individualized student instruction within established curriculum guidelines. In addition, the teacher will follow the special education process including the development and implementation of the IEP, providing specially designed instruction for students and collecting appropriate data for progress monitoring purposes. The special education teacher also collaborates with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in programming for instructional purposes for students, addressing instructional and/or classroom issues, and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.
Students in special education receive services in a variety of ways, including in the special education setting and/or in the general education setting. Some students may have limited physical mobility, traumatic brain injuries, developmental disabilities, severe behavioral issues, severe health concerns, or may otherwise be unable to function in a regular classroom setting.
Grain Valley teachers are expected to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for their education in accordance with each pupil’s ability and to establish positive, supportive relationships with parents and other staff members. All candidates should demonstrate a commitment to their own ongoing professional growth.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $43,000 to $92,000 Per Year
