Overview

The community health analyst oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of multifaceted programs aimed at improving community health within the Alamance County Health Department. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of the community health assessment (CHA), the community health improvement plan (CHIP), and the state of the county health (SOTCH) report, ensuring these initiatives are data-driven, community-informed, and aligned with public health best practices.

Program

Coordination & Leadership
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of community health initiatives and related program activities.
  • Provide strategic planning and project management to support departmental goals and community impact.
  • Promote meaningful community engagement through outreach, advocacy, partnership building, and trust-building efforts.
  • Work closely with the community engagement team, participating actively in community outreach events and initiatives.
  • serve as the public information officer for the Alamance County Consolidated Health Agency.
  • Will supervise one FTE.
ata & Assessment
  • Apply strong analytical skills to community health data, needs assessments, and program evaluation metrics.
  • Oversee all aspects of the CHA, CHIP, and SOTCH, including planning, data collection and community collaborative work.
Intern Program Management
  • Review intern applications and manage the intern program.
  • Coordinate intern affiliation agreements, placements, and ensure appropriate learning experiences within the health department.
Social Drivers of Health & Referral Systems
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the complexities of social drivers of health.
  • Provide oversight and training for the FINDHELP referral platform to ensure effective use across the department.
Communications & Public Engagement
  • Review and approve social media content related to community engagement and public health information.
  • Review health documents for reading accessibility prior to publication or posting to ensure clear communication for diverse audiences.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in public health or a related field; or bachelor’s degree in a related field plus four (4) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both written and verbally.
  • Ability to design data-gathering instruments, assess the validity of collected data, analyze results, and draw evidence-based conclusions to evaluate the value and potential of programs or projects, including presenting findings orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and utilize computer-assisted statistical programs and demonstrate a working knowledge of statistical analysis of data.
  • Ability to develop and write comprehensive reports.
  • Considerable knowledge of public health delivery models, community health principles, and program management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and community partners.
  • Puts customer service as a top priority in all things executed.
