Heavy Truck Driver/Equipment Operator

The Town of Grafton is seeking an individual to fill the position of Heavy Truck Driver/Equipment Operator. This position performs manual work for all Highway and/or Parks & Cemeteries projects as well as maintenance and repairs as needed.

• Assisting with street maintenance and repair projects
• Operating specialized equipment, installing pipe for drainage systems, operating heavy machinery for roadway mowing, plowing, and street sweeping
• Assigning in signage fabrication, and roadway preparation such as asphalt work, and spreading gravel or stone
• Operating a variety of heavy and light equipment such as backhoes, loaders, brush cutters, paving machines, and more, in the discharge of the position's official duties

Qualifications for this position include a high school diploma and 3 to 5 years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. A Class B Commercial Driver’s License and 2B Hoisting License are required. Other licenses may be required to operate DPW equipment including but not limited to 1C, 4E, and 3A.

Applicants must have knowledge of operating public works equipment operation, and a fundamental knowledge of construction, grounds maintenance, and field safety. Applicants must be able to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions, and be able to follow detailed oral and written instructions. Work for this position is primarily performed outdoors. This is a 40-hour per week Union position with a salary range of $50,003.00-$55,203.00 DOQ.
