We are seeking an experienced and motivated clinician with significant experience of working with children and young people with Neurodevelopmental conditions. This is an exciting time for our NDD service at the Newberry Child Development Centre, as we significantly expand our team to be able to deliver our newly launched Neurodevelopmental pathways. This role will involve the assessment and diagnosis of children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences, including Autism and ADHD.
The post holder will act as a key member of the clinical team, assisting with shaping and embedding a high-quality, timely and equitable NDD assessment service. They will also support the leadership of the service by supervising and supporting the wider team.

Main duties of the jobProvide specialist assessment for children aged between 2 and 19 as part of diagnostic investigations for a Neurodevelopmental Disorder. This will be both in a clinic setting and through observation in school.
Be appropriately trained and experienced or willing to train to deliver all aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder assessments.
Demonstrate specialist knowledge in the clinical specialism of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, underpinned by current evidence-based practice.
To effectively and sensitively communicate the outcome of assessment to young people, parents and professionals at feedback meetings. Clearly explain the diagnosis, outcomes and recommended support strategies. Signpost families to appropriate avenues of support.
Be responsible for the clinical supervision of the Neurodevelopmental Practitioners and Neurodevelopmental Assistants.
Take a key role in multidisciplinary discussion at the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Assessment Group diagnostic meetings.
Deliver training to multi-disciplinary team and others.
To support the Senior Neurodevelopmental Specialists in the teaching and supervision of new team members and students.
To support the Clinical Lead and Senior Neurodevelopmental Specialists with service development.

PersonSpecification Education and Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy
- Current HCPC or NMC Registration
- CPD record should include evidence of relevant clinical courses in the field of Autism and/or ADHD
- Post graduate training in a related field
- Experience working as a Band 6 SLT, OT or Nurse with children
- Experience of working in a variety of settings e.g. schools, homes, clinics
- Experience of working with vulnerable or challenging families
- Ability to draw on own clinical experience to inform multidisciplinary discussion around differential diagnosis
- Understanding and working knowledge of clinical governance current topics in the NHS
- Experience of supervising and supporting junior colleagues, students and volunteers
- Ability to develop and deliver in house training packages to both families and professionals
- Engages in reflective practice and is aware of own limitations
- Trained to administer the ADOS 2
- Undertaken further training in the areas of developmental trauma and attachment
- Extensive knowledge of recognised strategies used to support children and young people with Autism and/or ADHD
- Experience in undertaking clinical audit
