THE OPPORTUNITY:Reporting to the site Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will play a key role in facilitating site and company success. The Quality Engineer assists with all quality assurance and quality engineering activities at the location and contributes to consistently delivering year over year performance improvement, with acute customer focus, by aligning team members, developing required technical skillsets, encouraging innovation, and embracing continuous improvement in everything we do.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:- Assist in the management and improvement of quality processes, practices, and personnel.
- Ensure all required technical specification call outs and tolerancing are in place and documented.
- Maintain system and processes for enhancing and maintaining all shop floor and inspection lab equipment.
- Help the design and/or maintenance of statistically sound quality control plans for raw material, sub-contract work, and all internal manufacturing processes.
- Leverage process capability data to make inspection frequency optimization adjustments
- Assist in identifying and acting on process variation reduction opportunities.
- Connect equipment capability study outputs to resulting quality control plan design.
- Lead quality data collection work design, conversion of data to trends and Pareto charts, collaborative approach to draw out insights, and actionable initiatives.
- Facilitates cross-functional 8D corrective action process including problem statement articulation, containment activity, root cause analysis, and creation/execution of short and long term countermeasures.
- Supports site and enterprise wide Quality Management System (QMS).
- Assists with employee development activities to ensure skills and capabilities are aligned with business growth plans.
- Supports process development and validation activities to ensure seamless New Product Development launches.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering desired
- 2+ years of Quality Operations or Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude required; must have ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Demonstrated analytical skills required, including knowledge of principles, practices, concepts, and theories related to quality assurance, problem solving, and root cause analysis
- Cutting tool and/or machining experience would be ideal
- Demonstrated manufacturing experience in a similar manufacturing environment
- Ability to extract data, analyze and convert to usable information, see trends, and draw out actionable insights
- Experience interfacing with external customers/suppliers
