A leading aluminum manufacturing organization is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join its team and support ongoing success and growth within the aluminum industry.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in general earth and physical sciences, or a related discipline
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Understanding of environmental sampling procedures
  • Knowledge of field quality assurance to ensure the integrity of collected data and samples
Responsibilities
  • Learn, accept, and uphold the organization's purpose, vision, and values
  • Conduct routine environmental compliance testing and reporting, including:
    • Surface and groundwater sampling
    • Soil sampling
    • Ambient air monitoring
  • Perform regulatory compliance monitoring and sampling in accordance with required methods and standards, including air, water, waste, and wildlife
  • Interface with state regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and sampling activities
  • Communicate results of environmental audits to assess compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Conduct non-routine sampling for special project data collection
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of environmental laboratory and field-testing equipment, including recordkeeping
  • Maintain inventory of technical supplies
  • Ensure proper disposition of hazardous waste as determined by the technical team or team leader
  • Complete annual training related to hazardous waste disposal and Department of Transportation requirements
  • Conduct environmental audits to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations
  • Participate in professional development, training, and learning opportunities to enhance skills and competencies
