Overview

The Neiland Operator is responsible for performing compound forming operations through the safe setup, operation, and oversight of Neiland machinery. This role ensures the production of high-quality parts that meet established safety, quality, and production standards by conducting routine equipment checks, monitoring machine performance, and collaborating closely with supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve production objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up, and operate Neiland equipment in accordance with work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Programs the machine from blueprints to process plate.
  • Accountable for the safety and quality of his/her area.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of the 5S housekeeping system within the assigned work cell(s).
  • Accountable for delivering a product that meets the customer"s (external or internal) specification.
  • Promotes teamwork within department.
  • Troubleshoot and determine corrective action for machinery when necessary.
  • Working knowledge of all subordinate positions in order to fill in when needed.
  • Ensures all documentation are completed accurately and are turned in on time. In the event that this task is delegated, Supervisor must ensure that the task is completed.
  • Provides direction and assistance in ISO 9001 related activities.
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience operating a press brake required.
  • Must be able to be certified for forklift and crane operations and maintain this certification annually.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with outside sources in written and verbal formats.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
Travel

Ability to travel out of state for training as needed

Language Skills

Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions, information gathered from meters, dials, calibrated scales, visual display units. Ability to receive and understand instructions via radio or phone. Ability to summarize verbal instructions.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to follow instructions, in a logical order, given in oral, written, or diagram form. Ability to apply quality standards against product and determine if defective and degree of defect. Ability to compile gathered information. Ability to solve practical problems with common sense.

Physical Demands
  • May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.
  • May lift or carry 50lbs. Weights exceeding 50lbs will require mechanical means to maneuver.
Work Environment
  • Exposure is frequent to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles - eye protection is required, and fumes, machine vibration, and noisy conditions, high temperatures, and occasional to a restricted space work area.
  • All Keel locations are tobacco free where appropriate.
