Position: Cable Technician - Goodyear

Position Overview

Cable Technician I & II — TEKsystems is seeking motivated Communications Technicians to support data center and low-voltage installation projects across the Phoenix metro area. Technicians will work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including new-build data center facilities.

Location & Schedule

Location: Goodyear, AZ
Worksite: 2950 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338
Schedule: Monday-Saturday, 10-hour shifts, starting at 5:00 AM
Work Type: On-site | Contract-to-Hire
Drug Test: Required

Pay Rates
  • Technician I: $20/hr
  • Technician II: $24/hr
Responsibilities
  • Technician I:
    Pull, route, and install low-voltage cabling (Cat5, Cat6, Fibre). Install J-hooks, cable trays, ladder racks, and support structures. Assist with rack assembly, device installation, and basic terminations. Support higher-level technicians in testing and troubleshooting. Follow all safety standards, jobsite protocols, and quality guidelines.
  • Technician II
    :
    Serve as a high-level technician and lead installer. Perform all Level I duties with advanced proficiency. Terminate and test CAT3/CAT5/CAT6 cabling; install faceplates, surface boxes, and outlets. Build and organize telecom closets including racks, backboards, patch panels, cross-connects, grounding, and fiber hardware. Complete IDC connections (110/66 blocks, patch panels). Conduct cable testing and troubleshooting using tone sets, ohmmeters, and related equipment.

    Identify active circuits and ensure labeling accuracy per standards. Lead small installation teams, coordinate daily tasks, and provide training. Complete all required paperwork (timesheets, work orders, material transfers, etc.). Maintain adherence to company, customer, and industry safety/quality standards.
Required Tools
  • Screwdrivers (flat & Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves.
  • Punch tool (110 & 66), tone set, 6/8-position crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX tools.
Preferred

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with rack assembly and installation.
  • Cable testing and certification (Cat5/6/Fiber).
  • CCTV, security cable installation, or OSP experience is a plus.
  • BICSI certification preferred.
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders/lifts, and in hot environments (data center shells).
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer interaction skills.
  • Material management experience.
Project Environment
  • New-build data centers (hot conditions, no AC).
  • Office build-outs and commercial construction sites.
  • Significant walking and material handling.
  • Heights work using ladders and lifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodyear, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
