To better support complex projects, Helix Electric has a need for Electrical Trainees. Work is four 10-hour shifts per week, with a 3-day weekend.
DUTIES & SCOPE- Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial and residential settings.
- Prepare work area for installation of equipment.
- Install or assist with installation of electrical components.
- Connect wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
- Operate equipment only if trained and certified to operate.
Note:
Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating. - Set up and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.
- Learning or be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
- Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
- Secure and lock up equipment after use.
- A proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Assist with complex electrical installations in a fast-paced and fast-production environment.
- Be proficient in type NM (Romex) and/or MC wiring methods is a plus.
- Work from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14', A frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by oneself.
- Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).
- 4+ years of experience in Commercial & Multi-Family Residential.
- Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
- Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves always), respirator when required.
- Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and night shifts as required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
