JOB DESCRIPTION – Food Service I
TITLE: Food Service I (Full/Part Time) FTE: .8125/.625
FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt
HOURS PER DAY: 6.5/5
WORK CALENDAR: 195 days
COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $16.70/hour)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position performs general food service, food preparation, and food service sanitation, according to the Arizona State health code regulations, fulfilling the dietary needs of students and faculty with adequately prepared meals. Position requires cashiering with accountability for reimbursable meals and ala carte itemsExcellent customer service skillsAssists in the preparation of foodPrepares meals from standardized recipes including cold and cooked salads, gelatins, salad dressings, and beverages also includes basic cooking such as hamburgers, chicken patties, etc.Sets up and replenishes serving linesServes students and faculty in a friendly mannerMaintains the trash collection area in a neat and sanitary fashionWashes equipment, pots, pans, and serving utensilsOperates various kitchen machines when necessary (mixers, blenders, ovens and slicers, etc.)Removes used dishes and assists in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining areaPerforms similar duties for special meal occasions and catering, as needed.Complies with Safety Rules & National School Lunch Program Regulations and OSHA requirementsOperates the cash registerAssists in counting and preparing monies and necessary paperwork for daily depositOrders food service supplies, as neededMaintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issuesProvide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and communityPerform responsibilities in an ethical and professional mannerMaintain punctual and regular attendancePerform other related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Education / Certificate
1. Must have or be able to obtain within thirty days of employment start date a County Certification for food handler (renewed every 3 years)
2. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
Experience
Must have mathematical ability to work with monies and operate cash register and related business machines as requestedMust be 21 years of age or older upon hireCommunication Skills
1. Friendly and respectful to students and staff
2. Must have the ability to read and write simple instructions
Computer Skills
Must possess general knowledge in the use of office machines and computersPHYSICAL DEMANDS
