Supports Tooling Manager by providing supervision of daily tooling operations, solving technical issues, maintaining tool history, implementing safety rules, running safety audits, and assisting customers.

Requirements

Assists the Tooling Manager in prioritizing work within the tool room and maintaining tooling standards.

Provides in-house repair time estimation for all current and upcoming mold repairs.

Supports and maintains the preventive maintenance program.

Verifies all tooling equipment and machinery is in safe and proper working conditions.

Actively intervene to correct recognized unsafe actions and conditions.

Demonstrates safe job performance.

Assist with daily observations of PPE use and safe work practices adherence and coach employees as needed.

Follows all safety guidelines established by this facility on a daily basis. Ensure that all accidents including first aid are reported.

Demonstrates safe job performance and leads by example.

Looks for continuous improvement of mold setup time and overall mold performance and reliability.

Assists training of new hires on assigned tooling department job tasks.

Communicates daily and weekly tooling activities with production personnel.

Participates in Level I and Level II staff meetings.

Monitors and maintains mold conditions to be at optimal performance and provides assistance with any part quality issues.

Verifies mold maintenance intervals and processes are followed and documentation is maintained.

Keep own and adjacent work area clean.

Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education

Completed Journeyman Certificate and 1-2 years of hands-on lead/foremen experiences.

Preferred Education

Minimum 10 years of working experience as Tool Maker / Tool & Die Mold Maker and a minimum of 1-2 years working as a department Lead/Foremen.

Required Qualifications

Experience with a wide range of injection mold designs.
Solid understanding of blueprint reading and creation of sketched shop drawings.
Must possess leadership skills and the ability to schedule the tooling priorities for on time delivery.
Strong background and experiences work on plastic injection molds.

Candidate must be able to complete the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing and/or carrying up to 50 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis; climbing into confined spaces within tactical vehicles; manipulating and handling objects needed for installation: reaching, grasping, twisting, turning and manipulating equipment and tools within confined spaces, as well as walking, bending, stooping, sitting, standing or squatting for extended periods of time.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and work in high, precarious places. The employee is exposed to heat; fumes or airborne particles;
Toxic or caustic chemicals.
