Position: Applied Scientist - I
Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an Applied Scientist - I for a contract position with a Global E-commerce and Technology Company located in Goodyear, AZ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

Summary:
This role plays a crucial part in providing operational meteorological support for the client's global operations. The ideal candidate will deliver accurate, timely weather forecasts and analyses to manage weather-related impacts on personnel, operations, and assets. This position requires an individual who thrives in a dynamic operational environment, embraces evolving meteorological technologies, and can perform effectively during high-impact weather events.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyze weather conditions using advanced meteorological data systems, satellite imagery, radar, and numerical weather prediction models to support operations
• Prepare and deliver accurate short-term and medium-range weather forecasts for assigned geographical regions
• Conduct meteorological analysis and verification of forecast accuracy to continuously improve forecast quality
• Provide weather briefings to operational teams and senior leadership as needed, communicating potential impacts in clear, actionable terms
• Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to visualize and communicate weather information and potential operational impacts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess weather-related risks and support operational decision-making
• Maintain accurate meteorological records and documentation
• Support special projects and tasks as assigned related to weather operations
• Work flexible shifts as needed to provide continuous meteorological support

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related field
• 3+ years of professional experience in meteorological forecasting
• Knowledge of and ability to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired skills:

• Experience in operational meteorology or weather forecasting in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with multiple meteorological data sources including satellite, radar, and numerical weather prediction models
• Experience providing weather briefings to leadership or operational teams
• Proficiency with meteorological software and data visualization tools
• Experience with forecast verification and quality control processes
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and during severe weather events

Pay range: up to $51.00 per Hour
