Responsible for the daily activities of operating equipment and related infrastructure for the water treatment facilities. Responds to emergency and operational issues to ensure proper remedial action. Maintains, adjusts and properly runs the Water Treatment Facilities for the City of Goodyear. Activities include reverse osmosis, nitrate removal and arsenic removal treatment systems throughout the City’s facilities.
The ideal candidate for this position shall be a highly energetic and self‑motivated individual with the necessary technical and interpersonal skills and experience to effectively operate the water treatment facilities for the City of Goodyear's potable water system. This is a technical position so 2 years experience in the operation of water treatment facilities such as Arsenic Removal, Nitrate Removal and Reverse Osmosis systems is desired.
This position requires the individual to work alone and make technical decisions to maintain operations. The ideal candidate will have 2 years experience using a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Experience using handheld and benchtop analyzer equipment is a requirement.

Responsibilities- Oversees operation of an assigned treatment facility to maintain day to day operation necessary to meet all required local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the production of potable water and comply with prescribed operating and safety standards.
- Prioritizes activities between the different treatment processes and systems, including the operation of valves, gates, pumps, and machinery manually, locally in automatic mode or remote via computerized control strategy.
- Performs administrative duties such as recording daily reports on flows, chemical use and functionality of equipment. Submits work requests and assists with tracking of all preventative work orders assigned to the treatment facilities. Log instrumentation readings and field testing by use of the HACH WIMS database system. Also monitors the HACH WIMS database system for accuracy of automated entries.
- Oversees daily operations, including the daily recording of readings, information, and status of all process equipment. Records the usage of chemicals and current levels for replenishment.
- Performs field testing to ensure chemical equipment is functional and properly calibrated. Verifies all online instrumentation is functional and reporting correctly. Uses a variety of standard testing procedures to determine problems and any adjustments needed in the treatment process.
- Attend meetings as directed to explain current operational conditions and future needs. Be a subject matter expert for informational purposes and future planning.
- Creates, reviews, and suggests new standard operating procedures related to the water treatment facilities.
- Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
