Assist in the coordination, promotion, implementation and evaluation of recreational activities in specialty program areas such as senior programs, special interest classes, preschool & youth camps. Develop engaging, inclusive, and high-quality experiences that align with departmental goals and community interests. Provide leadership and oversight to part-time and seasonal staff while ensuring recreation and local school facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in support of exceptional program delivery.

- Researches new programs, create flyers, contact vendors, and order and pick up supplies.
- Market and promote recreational programs through a variety of communication channels to increase community awareness and participation.
- Assists in recruiting, overseeing and training the part-time and seasonal recreation staff; directs various staff members by conducting meetings, assigns and monitors work; and assists staff with duties when necessary.
- Assists in managing and recreation programs; performs administrative duties, facilitates and attends meetings as required and facilitates meetings.
- Supervises the purchase, distribution, care, use and maintenance of supplies and equipment for assigned programs.
- Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating a variety of recreation activities and specialized events.
- Provide excellent customer service to the public through daily interactions, including assisting with program registrations, processing refunds, and managing participant enrollment and waitlists.
- Ensures safety of participants and facility users and ensures program and/or facility compliance with city, county, state and national laws, regulations and standards.
- Maintains effective relationships with associates, participants, community groups, administration and the general public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Community college, vocational, business, and technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in a related field.
- Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License, CPR and First-Aid certifications.
- Reading: Work requires the ability to read staff reports, memorandums, letters, and general correspondence.
- Math: Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Writing: Work requires the ability to write reports, letters, registration forms and flyers, and accident and incident forms.
- Managerial: Semi-Complex - Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
- Policy/Decision Making: Significant - The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. Work involving discretion is typically reviewed before finalized
