Exempt Status: Hourly

Operates evaporator for continuous processing of whey, permeate and water.

• Efficiently operate assigned whey processing equipment.
• Take assigned in- processing samples.
• Monitor operation of equipment and make appropriate adjustments to produce high quality products.
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment when needed.
• Keep work area clean and uncluttered.
• Monitor multiple computer screens to maintain parameter control of two evaporators, silo and line CIP circuits, truck receiving and loading.
• Adjust controllers to maintain proper flow and solids in the evaporators.
• Monitor and control ingredient addition.
• Fill silos to proper levels.
• Record hourly information from controllers regarding silo levels, pH levels, etc. to production logs.
• Perform CIP of evaporator, lines, silos, etc.
• Perform minor maintenance items (e.g. change gaskets, seals, and cleaning items).
• Keep assigned area and whey control room clean.
• Perform chart recorder checks and USDA seal checks.
• Assist training of other operators.
• Read through Standard Operating Procedures and help update them when possible.
• Take readings and fill out evaporator log sheets.
• Actively participate in loss control.
• Comply with occupational safety and health standards and all applicable food safety regulations (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Computer experience helpful.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs consecutively.
• Self‑motivated and able to work with little supervision.

• Work in hot conditions and go up & down stairs.
• Operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment.
• Accurate in taking samples & performing tests.
• Certifiable on the evaporators.
• Excellent safety, attendance and punctuality record.
• Stand and walk the entire shift if needed.
• Read and write instructions in English.
• Knowledge of proper use of all cleaning chemicals.
• Work weekends, overtime as required.

• Frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel (51‑75%).
• Occasionally walk, lift and/or move 26‑60 lbs (25‑50%).
• Rarely stand, sit, talk or hear, climb or balance (1‑25%).

May be exposed to 85+ noise levels requiring hearing protection.

Must perform essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation efficiently and accurately without causing significant safety threat to self or others.
