About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior EH&S Technician located in Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta, Canada).

The Senior EH&S Technician shares responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Provides hands‑on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for a specific plant. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job‑related training and considerable on‑the‑job experience to perform a variety of work assignments.

Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities
  • Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
  • Ensures that the Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.
  • Acts as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • Serves as plant contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.
  • Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
  • Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
  • Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
  • Performs/coordinates certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.
Your Skills
  • Environment Health and Safety: Utilize knowledge and experience of EH&S to implement and maintain EH&S work processes within a facility, and drive continuous improvement through effective root cause investigations and follow-up.
  • Prioritization: Ability to organize work and set priorities to manage stakeholders expectations. Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Change Management: Lead and participate in the change management work process for EH&S initiatives.
  • Escalation: Ability to intervene and elevate an unsafe situation and provide coaching and mentorship on safe work practices.
  • Communication: Professional communication, encompasses written, oral, visual, and digital communication within a workplace context.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well with others to achieve a common goal.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum 3 years of EH&S, OH&S or other relevant experience.
  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

  • This position is located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada.
  • The Dow Chemical Company does not offer relocation if the position is offered to someone who lives outside the area or reimbursement for travel to and from test sessions or interviews.
