The Assistant Manager reports to the Store Manager, assists in management of daily store operations in the absence of the Senior Assistant Manager, and helps supervise associates in the performance of their assigned duties. They receive inventory, stock and maintain a store section, operate a cash register, and perform basic bookkeeping duties.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:- Maintain a store section by creating orders, receiving and stocking merchandise using proper equipment
- Review invoices/bills for accuracy
- Stock shelves, end stacks, displays and deli/freezer cases
- Set up advertising/promotional displays
- Mark prices on merchandise as needed
- Operate a cash register, receive cash from customers, make change and process check/charge transactions
- Review price/order books, price changes, advertisement forms and direct vendor pricing information
- Give cash and/or credit refunds when approved by management
- Verify customer eligibility when alcoholic beverages are purchased
- Perform basic bookkeeping duties
- Record lost/damaged goods and store supplies using an appropriate ledger
- Post information and collect data
- Supervise the activity of assigned work crews when functioning as temporary Senior Assistant Manager
- Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations
- Supervise unloading, staging, stocking and pricing activity of the crew
- Provide timely and professional customer service by resolving customer complaints and requests for refunds, exchanges, or adjustments
- Monitor and supervise associates and customer safety and security issues
- Participate in completing customer accident reporting paperwork
- Supervise completion of equipment safety and sanitation checklists
- Ensure period safety/loss prevention sign‑off sheets are completed
- Demonstrate ability to effectively utilize basic PC skills and knowledge of all handheld devices

At a minimum, the successful job applicant will have at least one of the following: an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Retail Management Certificate (RMCP) or enrollment in one RMCP course. Prior work experience in retail operations or equivalent experience as determined by Company management is required.
