Job SummaryThis position will test opto-mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturing documentation (assembly instructions, process documents, etc.) using a variety of hand tools, measuring devices, and test equipment.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Align and test optical systems using interferometry, alignment telescope, and optical inspection devices.
- Work with assembly and inspection tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
- Perform environmental testing of opto-mechanical systems using thermal chambers and vibration machines.
- Document actions by completing checklists.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform general lab maintenance as necessary.
- High school diploma or 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar position/field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a progressive manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Optical alignment and test experience desired.
- Assembly experience desired.
- Ability to read assembly drawings and process instructions.
- Experience using standard hand tools – allen wrenches, screw drivers, torque wrenches, etc.
- Familiarity with computers as applicable to manufacturing.
- Solid quality‑minded work ethic and strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative interpersonal skills fostering effective group dynamics.
- Stamina: ability to stand for extended periods, often for most of the workday.
- Lifting: capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
- Mobility: ability to maneuver in tight spaces, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Manual dexterity required for tasks such as soldering, crimping, and fabricating parts.
- Vision and hearing: must have clear close‑up vision and be able to hear and understand speech.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
Salary Range$49,300.00–$65,700.00
