Description

Summary:

The Materials Inventory Technician performs duties in distribution, receiving, storing and issuing of supplies and materials, shipping and receiving of hospital merchandise and supplies while maintaining required inventory management processes. Responsibilities include meeting supply needs with prompt delivery within specified time frames, assuring accuracy of issues, and ensuring the good working order and availability of materials across multiple hospital departments. The role requires taking inventory and cycle counts and entering and maintaining information in computer systems to control receipt, storage, and distribution of materials.

It uses expense and asset inventory systems to maintain inventory accuracy and focuses on delivering quality customer service to all requesting materials.

Responsibilities
  • Receives, inspects, and delivers incoming supplies and equipment to departments and locations throughout the hospital.
  • Identifies and maintains customer storage locations. Communicates data to product specialists for updating Lawson or other inventory tools.
  • Maintains a product inventory and stocking schedule to assure efficient and timely placement of orders and supply availability.
  • Efficiently stocks products using rotation and expiration processes.
  • Ensures accuracy of the inventory within customer areas and/or the Warehouse.
  • Prepares and assists in cycle count verifications and annual inventory.
  • Consistently aims to accomplish fill rate objectives and other departmental goals.
  • Processes debris and transports empty supply carts back to the loading dock area.
  • Stages incoming and outgoing supply carts to assigned areas to optimize space and efficiency.
  • Reports shortages, damaged products, missing items, or short-date/expired items to a supervisor or manager promptly.
  • Responds to inquiries concerning inventory levels, delivery times, and back-order items.
  • Responds quickly to teammate requests and anticipates customer needs to take appropriate action.
  • Problem solves using logical thinking and brings any concerns to a supervisor or manager promptly.
  • Manages supply chain issues and follows up through various communication tools.
  • Provides excellent customer service in all interactions; introduces self and clarifies purpose of interaction.
  • Takes proper safety precautions at all times and reports any safety or environmental issues.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and training sessions.

      High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Liecensure/Certification
      :
      None.
    • Experience
      :
      One year in a materials position preferred, or two years of experience in computer entry, inventory control, supply distribution, or material handling.

      • Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.
      • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
    • Valid NC Driver's License:
      No. If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
