- To troubleshoot electro‑mechanical problems, installations, and perform unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance on equipment based on customer demand and need, providing complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner while working in a team environment.
- Effectively analyze problem situations pertaining to breakdowns of customer equipment and recommend action necessary to correct the situation to the customer.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor and promote goodwill between the company and customers by providing superior customer service.
- Perform necessary repairs to correct analyzed situations in a professional and productive manner.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment for contracted customers according to Carolina Handling schedules and proactively address needed repairs with the customer.
- Maintain parts and supplies inventory in the service van and perform van service.
- Adhere to the customer’s safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing repairs at the customer site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferred 1–3 years of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic experience in a similar environment, or equivalent education.
- Effective communication skills with customers, management, and coworkers.
- Understanding of industry innovations and product availability to make customer‑centric recommendations.
- Ability to safely operate drills, grinders, presses, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes, and hand tools.
- Ability to utilize available support resources from within the company.
- High school education with 1–3 years of related experience, or equivalent education.
- Effective communication with customers, management, and coworkers.
- Reading and interpreting schematics and manuals.
- Understanding and following verbal and demonstrated instructions.
- Arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Knowledge of industry innovations and product availability.
- Use of voltage, ohm, and multimeters.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Safe operation of drills, grinders, presses, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes, and hand tools.
- Utilization of available support resources.
- Other necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities as assigned.
Regular standing, use of hands, reaching, and talking. Frequent walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Regular lifting up to 25 lbs, frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasional lifting over 100 lbs. Vision requirements include close, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Working ConditionsWork in diverse customer environments: manufacturing, distribution, cold storage, and outdoors with exposure to elements. Exposure to oil, grease, dirt, equipment hazards, dangerous chemicals, solvents, high or precarious places, fumes, and airborne particles. Noise levels vary from moderate to noisy. Overtime, after‑hours, weekends, and overnight travel required.
