Summary
A Registered Nurse at Wayne UNC Health Care is a vital member of the patient care team, providing leadership and applying scientific principles and professional skills to care for the ill, prevent disease, and maintain health. The RN supports providers, directs nursing teammates, and implements holistic patient care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to plan, deliver, supervise, and document patient care following provider orders, standards, policies, and regulations.
- Individualize care plans, evaluate patient progress, and update care plans accordingly.
- Provide competent care for patients with complex needs, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
- Communicate effectively with providers, team members, patients, and families.
- Follow systems supporting the nursing process to ensure safe and effective care.
- Monitor and delegate tasks to team members appropriately.
- Participate in continuing education, professional development, and quality improvement activities.
- Respond to emergencies and maintain a professional demeanor, promoting high standards of customer service and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Current RN licensure in North Carolina.
- CPR/BLS certification; additional certifications as required.
- Minimum one year of experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and procedures; proficiency with EMR/Epic.
Additional Information
Work Schedule:
Night shifts, full-time (36 hours/week). Exempt from overtime. No valid NC Driver’s License required unless operating UNC Health Wayne vehicles.
