Senior Project Engineer
LHH is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our client, a leading U.S.
-based manufacturing organization, to support capital and process improvement initiatives across multiple production facilities in North Carolina
.
This role offers the opportunity to lead high‑impact engineering projects from concept through commissioning within a complex, industrial manufacturing environment.
This is a hands‑on, plant‑facing role for engineers who thrive in execution‑heavy environments and have experience delivering equipment installations, new production lines, and facility upgrades
.
Primary facilities are located in Clinton, Kinston, and Wilson, NC
.

What You’ll DoAs part of the Engineering team, you will manage multiple concurrent capital projects (typically 3–4 at a time), driving scope, schedule, cost, and execution excellence.
- End‑to‑End Project Leadership
- Lead engineering projects from initial concept, feasibility, and design through installation, startup, and handoff.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, and implementation plans.
- Design & Construction Oversight
- Develop or review engineering designs, material specifications authoritative and utility requirements.
- Validate field work, ensure pw compliance with codes and standards, and generate as‑built documentation.
- Direct contractors, vendors, and consultants during installation and construction phases.
- Capital & Contract Management
- Manage project budgets and track costs against financial targets.
- Support bid evaluations, contractor selection, and contract administration.
- Monitor installations to ensure adherence to specifications, timelines, and quality expectations.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Partner closely with plant operations, maintenance, safety, and leadership teams.
- Provide regular status updates and risk assessments to management.
- Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness of new equipment and lines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of engineering or project management experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience managing capital projects involving mechanical systems, equipment installation, or production lines
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, installation practices, and project scheduling
- Proven ability to manage contractors and vendors onsite
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Experience in food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, or other high‑volume manufacturing environments
- Background in mechanical, industrial, or process engineering
- Experience managing multi‑million‑dollar projects
- Working knowledge of engineering economics, codes, and standards
- Base salary range: $87,000 – $116,000
- 15% annual bonus
