Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

Hardesty, LLC, on behalf of our client, a $15MM Constuction Services Company, is searching for a Controller. The ideal candidate will possess previous constructions services experience, and full scope administrative duties.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations within the construction company. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with industry regulations, and strategic financial planning to support project execution and company growth.

• Financial Management & Reporting
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage general ledger, job costing, and project accounting
• Develop and monitor budgets for individual projects and overall operations
• Provide financial forecasts and cash flow analysis
• Collaborate with project managers to align financial goals with construction timelines
• Implement and maintain job cost tracking systems
• Analyze variances between actual and estimated costs
• Recommend cost-saving strategies and process improvements
• Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to tax laws, labor regulations, and contract requirements
• Coordinate audits and manage relationships with external auditors
• Oversee insurance, bonding, and licensing documentation
• Supervise accounting staff and oversee payroll, AP/AR, and billing
• Work closely with executives, estimators, and project managers
• Support ERP system implementation and upgrades

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in construction
• Expertise in job costing, WIP schedules, and contract/insurance billing
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
