Facilities Engineer – Junior
LocationHybrid – Golden, CO; 3 days onsite once trained, 5 days per week at first.
Responsibilities- Support day‑to‑day physical operation and maintenance of the existing observatory network (14 in total).
- Assist with design, planning, and execution of new magnetic observatories.
- Gather data for facilities reports, plans, and projects.
- Assist with market research, preparation of project Statements of Work, Independent Government Cost Estimates, and Environmental documents.
- Assist facility manager with purchase requests and property inventory.
- Coordinate scheduling and completion of annual maintenance tasks (e.g., generator, HVAC, septic) with vendors and onsite contractors.
- Work with FM to address facilities problems by recommending solutions and implementation plans.
- Assist with preparation of background documents before comprehensive condition assessments (CCA) and review draft CCA reports for accuracy.
- Create basic drawings and schematics for Program projects.
- Review facilities documents and plans for accuracy.
- Act as point of contact and information resource when FM unavailable.
- Maintain documentation related to any projects or procedures generated or modified.
- Provide written and verbal reporting on accomplishments and upcoming work, including problems.
- Document project tasks clearly and continually update progress.
- General understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, instrumentation and controls, building envelope).
- Understanding of applicable design codes, standards and specification requirements.
- Experience with computer operation, including Microsoft Office and specialized software such as AutoCAD or Bluebeam.
- Professional knowledge of facilities engineering and maintenance.
- Ability to perform methodical tasks.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Bluebeam software is preferred.
- Applicants may be subject to a government security investigation; US citizenship may be required for some positions.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 – $40.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change. If eligible, benefits may include:
