Veterinary Technician - Emergency & ICU

Position

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled ER Veterinary Technician to join our team at Golden Valley, MN.

• $22.00 - $37.00 per hour based on licensing, experience, and competency assessment.
• Shift differential pay available for nights and weekends.

• Mon–Fri 6pm–8am +$3.50/hr.
• Sat/Sun 8am–6pm +$3.50/hr.
• Sat/Sun 6pm–8am +$5.00/hr.

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and positioning.
• Understand normal ranges for patient vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alert veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

$500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. Allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-credentialed paraprofessionals eligible for $150 CE stipend. Full-time CVT associates receive 8 hours of paid CE each year; VTS associates receive 12 hours. Paid CE hours carry over up to 24 hours. Newly hired associates receive prorated amount for eligible CE benefit.
