    This is a hybrid position based out of our Golden Valley location. Subject to change as business needs dictate. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Job Summary

The Planned Giving Officer is a people centric supportive team member who is responsible for promoting planned giving opportunities through personal outreach and strategic marketing. They will focus on recruiting and retaining membership in AHS’ Legacy Circle and being an advocate for members’ intentions by stewarding the probate and bequest process.

Essential Functions Donor and Prospect Management
  • Propose, implement, and administer a comprehensive program to recruit and steward Legacy Circle members.
  • Make meaningful contact with donors and prospects to increase support, nurture donor loyalty, and foster personal relationships.
  • Responsible for tracking planned giving prospects and donors and documenting their stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation activities.
  • Manage production schedules, content creations, and data preparation for planned giving print and online communications.
  • Aid in identifying trends and creating analytical reports. Work collaboratively on communication materials for planned giving prospects. Reinforce the prospect relationship continuum.
  • Administer and oversee the probate and/or claim process for estates in which AHS is a beneficiary.
Communication and Culture
  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers, other employees, and volunteers.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all.
Technology
  • Utilize CRM for donor and prospect data management.
  • Monitor AHS email and other messaging software.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information Schedule and Attendance
  • Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings, all staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with direct leader.
  • May be required to work at a different site based on department needs.
  • May be required to attend occasional off-site meetings and events.
Work Environment
  • Primarily office/desk based.
  • Adjacent animal shelter areas may be humid, noisy, or odorous.
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience of donor relationship experience required.
  • Knowledge of the probate process and practice is required.
  • Database and CRM experience preferred.
Skills
  • Ability to work in a professional and positive manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Must have ability to work as a member of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
  • Strong administrative and process management skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computers, specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
Emotional Demands
  • Must be comfortable with the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia.
Transportation
  • Reliable transportation required.
