In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of prospects, cultivating and stewarding gifts that sustain annual operations and fuel capital campaigns. You’ll collaborate across teams to craft personalized strategies, track progress toward ambitious goals, and ensure every interaction reflects our commitment to compassion and inclusion.

Salary: $65,000‑75,000 annually

  • Full Time, Hybrid (on-site a minimum of 2x per week)

    This is a hybrid position based out of our Golden Valley location. Subject to change as business needs dictate. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Job Summary

The Gifts Officer is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of donor prospects and securing gifts for annual operating and capital campaign support.

Essential Functions

Donor and Prospect Management:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of donor prospects and secure gifts for annual operating and capital campaign support.
  • Track donor prospects and document their qualifications, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities in the database.
  • Aid in the development and execution of strategy, cultivation, and stewardship activities.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards stated fundraising goals and other objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with internal marketing teams on communication materials for prospects

Communication and Culture:

  • Make meaningful contact and develop relationships with donors and prospects to increase donor retention and gift commitments.
  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers, other employees, and volunteers.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all.

Technology:

  • Utilize the CRM for donor and prospect data
  • Monitor AHS email and other messaging software.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Schedule and Attendance:

  • Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings, all staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with direct leader.
  • May be required to work at a different site based on department needs.
  • May be required to attend occasional off-site meetings and events.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office/desk based.
  • Adjacent animal shelter areas may be humid, noisy, or odorous.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience fundraising and securing donor gifts required.
  • Database and CRM experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong administrative and process management skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computers, specifically with Microsoft products.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

Emotional Demands:

  • Must be comfortable with the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia.

Transportation:

  • Reliable transportation required.
