About the Role:
We are partnering with a well-established food manufacturing organization that operates within a complex R&D and pilot plant environment to identify a Safety Training Modernization Lead
. This role supports the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function by executing safety training modernization initiatives that promote compliance, scalability, and operational consistency. The position is highly execution-focused and plays a key role in building an automation-ready safety training framework aligned with enterprise training standards and regulatory expectations.
The Safety Training Modernization Lead is responsible for modernizing safety training programs and ensuring alignment with hazard-based risk principles, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards. This role works cross-functionally with HSE, Learning & Development (L&D), IT, and subject matter experts to deliver structured, audit-ready safety training documentation and systems.
Responsibilities- Modernizing and updating approved safety training content
- Developing and maintaining role, task, and area-based safety training matrices
- Conducting safety training inventories, gap analyses, and content rationalization
- Supporting risk-based training prioritization aligned with Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) / Serious Event Indicator (SEI) and regulatory requirements
- Partnering with internal HSE, L&D, IT, and technical subject matter experts
- Supporting development of training governance standards and learning system readiness
- Ensuring training documentation quality, consistency, and audit readiness
Required
- Associate degree OR high school diploma with 5+ years of directly related experience
- Prior experience in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and/or Environmental roles
- Experience working in manufacturing, pilot plant, and/or laboratory environments
- Strong understanding of hazard-based safety training principles
- Experience developing, updating, or managing safety or technical training content
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training workflows
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines independently
- Self starter with minimal supervision required
- High attention to detail with strong documentation discipline
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions
Preferred
- Experience supporting safety training programs within the food or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry
- Experience working within regulated R&D or pilot plant environments
- Exposure to safety training governance frameworks or system implementation initiatives
