Overview
Our client in Godalming, Surrey, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Response Team (Housing Response and Maintenance). They are a national Property Services contractor focused on people, sustainability, and exceptional client delivery. The role is to proactively influence commercial success in the Waverley area, working with their reputable social housing client to complete day-to-day repairs and voids maintenance works.
They have been established for over 75 years, with presence across England and Wales, in over 18 locations and 32 Business Units.
The main customer base is Social Housing, Council/Local Authority, and Housing Associations. This is a reactive maintenance contract within the Guildford/Godalming area.
The Quantity Surveyor RoleThe Quantity Surveyor will actively price materials and labour for their responsive repairs workstream using SORs, while managing the financial performance of this work to completion. The role focuses on reducing costs, improving efficiencies, and maximising value to support profitability.
Specific Tasks Will Include- Being responsible for the financial and technical aspects of the contract, including procurement, budget management, direct labour targeting, subcontractor management, invoicing, payments, cash flow, and cost control.
- Minimising costs where possible and maximising value.
- Working with direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring all work issued has labour targets to return agreed profit performance.
- Developing and maintaining open and trusting relationships with the workforce, customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and the client.
- Producing monthly contract valuations of the unit’s actual deliverables against the projected budget (CVRs).
- Proven experience in a similar commercial or Quantity Surveying role, ideally with Schedule of Rates (SOR) contracts and social housing clients.
- Proven ability to minimise cost and maximise value, profit, and cash flow.
- Strong IT and Microsoft Excel skills (essential).
- Ability to process high volumes of data analysis.
- Experience in working with direct labour and subcontract procurement.
£66,538 inc car allowance (6.7K), base £59,838, plus private mileage scheme and fuel card, pension, healthcare, life insurance, and a profit share (last year 14%).
