Howdens Joinery Transport is looking for a reliable and proactive Yard Controller to support day-to-day yard operations at our Howden site. This is a predominantly outdoor, hands-on role
, ideal for someone who enjoys working outside, staying active, and being involved in a fast-paced transport environment.
Youll be responsible for maintaining accurate yard information, managing trailer availability, and supporting the Transport and Shunter teams to ensure smooth site operations and excellent service levels.

• Manage yard operations during your shift, with a focus on trailer availability
• Carry out regular physical yard checks outdoors in all weather conditions
• Complete and distribute yard check reports to key stakeholders
• Identify, investigate, and correct discrepancies in yard data
• Chase trailers to be tipped across site areas to create empties
• Communicate job requests clearly to shunters on shift
• Issue regular yard updates and trailer breakdowns
• Support vehicle maintenance, MOT preparation, and callouts
