Senior Social Worker – Localities Team

Gloucestershire County Council | Up to £47,000 per annum + Outstanding Bonus Package

Up to £47,000 salary depending on experience

£8,000 retention bonus

£4,000 welcome bonus

Additional £2,000 retention bonus after 12 months

Gloucestershire County Council is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join their Localities Team, delivering high-quality, relationship-based social work to children and families across the county. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking authority that truly values its workforce and invests heavily in retention, development, and wellbeing.

You will play a vital role in supporting complex cases, mentoring less experienced colleagues, and driving best practice across the service, while maintaining direct case responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a complex caseload of children and families within statutory frameworks

Provide high-quality assessments, care planning, and direct interventions

Undertake court work, including preparing high-quality statements and care plans

Act as a mentor and role model to less experienced social workers and ASYEs

Support reflective practice and continuous professional development across the team

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children

Maintain accurate, high-quality case recording and reporting

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Significant post-qualified experience within Children’s Services

Strong knowledge of statutory legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and court processes

Experience supporting complex child protection and court work cases

Confident decision-maker with excellent analytical and communication skills

Commitment to relationship-based and strengths-based practice
