Position: Waking Night Support Worker - Young People Supported Accommodation

What kind of person are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Waking Night Support Worker (internally known as a Building Supervisor) to work in our supported accommodation buildings in Gloucester. These buildings provide 24/7 housing and support for young people aged 16‑25 who were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

    Shifts of 8 pm–8:15 am on a rolling rota basis (12.25 hr shift: 8 pm–8:15 am, 1 hr unpaid break)
  • Contract:

  • Pay: £22,113 per year (Band B – £25,798.50 FTE)
  • Closing Date: 22nd February 2026 (CCP reserves the right to close the job advert early if needed)
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the building is safe and secure for residents, serving as a point of contact for residents and liaising with support staff to maintain information flow between shifts.
  • Perform health and safety checks and conduct walk‑arounds throughout your shift.
  • Defuse any situations that may affect the health, safety, or well‑being of residents, using sound judgment to resolve situations yourself or seek support from peers and emergency services if needed.
  • Keep the building clean, tidy, and presentable, undertaking light maintenance duties as required.
  • Engage with residents who may need someone to listen to them, demonstrating empathy and patience.
  • Participate in handovers and ensure clear communication with the team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience in interacting with a diverse cross‑section of society is useful but not essential.
  • Training and induction will be provided; a willingness to learn and reflect is essential.
  • Prior criminal convictions will not necessarily prevent you from joining CCP if it is not incompatible with safeguarding requirements.

Additional Information

Annual leave entitlement will be pro‑rata for part‑time staff. Working on public holidays due to a rota pattern will be compensated with time off in lieu. An extra day of leave accrues for each completed financial year (capped at
5). Purchasing additional holidays is capped at 5 per year.

Contracted staff only. Business mileage (45p a mile) is paid for any daily miles over and above the distance from your home to the allocated workplace location and back. You’ll need a well‑maintained vehicle with valid tax, MOT and insurance covering business use.
