HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?

You will be based at Staverton in Gloucestershire, in a workshop each day while working on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV). You will study towards becoming a vehicle technician and put your skills to action. You will have 1-1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team to discuss your development and career ambitions.

You will study towards a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician. Read the standard information provided through the link before applying.

What You Will Learn

  • Carry out basic tasks with tools and equipment related to HV mechanical and electrical procedures
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to company and legislative processes
  • Use diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults on HV systems
  • Follow recognised diagnostic procedures and problem-solving techniques to establish faults
  • Carry out detailed repairs on vehicles up to 44 tonnes
  • Triaging vehicles and rectifying on-site defects (including tankers)
  • Learn to use industry-standard and in-house software

About The Programme

New Talent Team guidance and support throughout. Your line manager, mentor and graduate buddy will help you reach your potential.

Apprenticeship Level: 3

Apprenticeship Duration: 36 months (excluding EPA)

Starting Salary: £22,500

Entry Criteria: If you don’t have GCSEs in English and maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, achieving Level 2 before completion.

Driving Requirements: You must have a full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle on starting.

Please note some sites are in remote locations and not serviced by public transport. Arrive safely at start times.

You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a pattern of 7:00–15:30, 7:00–15:00, or 8:00–16:00.
