OverviewEmbedding core services, developing new services and partnership programmes using collaboration to face the challenges for young people. You will bring experience in areas such as Marketing and communications, fundraising, safeguarding, service development, and mental health.
As a trustee you contribute to the general oversight and development of Gloucestershire Nightstop, bringing specialist skills such as fundraising, development and communications to help us achieve our mission of ending youth homelessness, making us sustainable and respected.
Responsibilities- Commitment to attend 6 evening meetings in Gloucester per year, plus occasional additional meetings or membership of working groups.
- Commitment to engage in timely email discussions and decisions needed for matters arising urgently between meetings.
- Working closely and harmoniously with other Board members to bring expertise to the board.
- Determining and setting the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Ensuring sound financial governance of resources.
- Acting at all times in the best interests of the charity and ensuring GN meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities.
- Assisting from time to time in the recruitment of staff (rare).
- Occasionally engaging with service users (young people) and the Nightstop team by visiting the office and/or attending celebratory or fundraising events, mindful of Trustees’ other work and domestic commitments.
- Raising the profile of Gloucestershire Nightstop and widening awareness of their important work whenever appropriate opportunities arise in conversation, at work or socially.
- Three years or more experience in the area of expertise/profession.
- Understanding of and compliance with guidance and requirements set out by the Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Commitment to volunteer time and attend bi-monthly board meetings in person in Gloucester.
- Passion for youth homelessness reduction and experience in fundraising or communications (helpful but not essential).
Voluntary position – no remuneration.
