This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued development of our expanding neonatal outreach service. The post holder will lead on both project delivery and people management, working collaboratively within the wider perinatal team to drive high‑quality, family‑centred care.

Main Duties of the JobAn experienced senior neonatal nurse responsible for operationally leading and maintaining clinical leadership and management in the care of neonates and their families. Provide expert support and advice relating to the provision of Transitional care and the Neonatal Outreach Service. Operationally lead and manage the neonatal nursing team alongside other members of the Senior Neonatal Leadership Team. Project management, audit and Quality Improvement skills are essential.
The post will involve visiting patients in their homes – a car driver is essential.

- Job location:

- Takes the operational responsibility for provision of effective, quality care within Transitional care and the Neonatal Outreach Service following a family‑integrated model of care.
- Works alongside the Matron, ward managers and wider teams to determine and deliver on service strategic objectives, encouraging interdisciplinary working.
- Manages a team of Neonatal Nurses and Nursery Nurses, maintaining constant communication with Medical, Midwifery and Nursing staff across the Neonatal unit, Transitional Care, Delivery Suite and Community Neonatal Outreach Service.
- Participates in Network Neonatal service development.
- Provides senior‑level contributions to resource management in the provision of neonatal services.
- Project‑manages the implementation of the service.
- Runs outpatient clinics and supports home oxygen therapy.
- Engages in Clinical Governance initiatives and leads on risks associated with Neonatal Outreach and Transitional Care.
- Leads the discharge process for infants requiring Neonatal Outreach care.
- Develops effective links with the Trust Quality Improvement team to support staff undertaking QI projects.
- Represents neonatal care at appropriate local, network and national forums.
- Leads on the implementation and evaluation of care pathways within Transitional Care and the Neonatal Outreach Service.
- Promotes a progressive attitude to continual improvement of care through research, evidence‑based practice and up‑to‑date national neonatal and perinatal drivers.

Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications & Training
- Active registration with the NMC
- Neonatal qualification in speciality
- NLS Provider
- Valid full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Training
- BSc (Hons) in nursing related subject or relevant experience

- Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and within a team
