Core CAMHS Specialist Practitioner

We are looking for an experienced clinician to join our Core Child and Adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) teams.

You should have the skills to work with children, young people and their families who may present with various mental health difficulties such as anxiety, emotional dysregulation and low mood.

We pride ourselves on working within a strong multi‑disciplinary team made up of supportive and experienced clinicians. In our team you will have the opportunity to assess children, young people and families and you will be expected to demonstrate experience in providing evidence‑based treatments and interventions applicable to supporting the mental health needs of young people.

Key elements of the job:

• Providing clinical leadership within the team
• Provide a range of CAMHS assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people as well as their families/carers who present with emotional and mental health difficulties
• Providing Care Coordinator responsibilities for a caseload of children and young people, with a specific focus on providing clinical assessment, formulation and treatment, including Self Harm assessments where the Voice of the Child is embedded within personalised care planning
• Providing clinical supervision to CAMHS staff
• Demonstrating a commitment to ensuring routine outcome measures are embedded within practice to demonstrate clinical based improvements for children, young people and parents/carers

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top‑quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.

• Professional Health or Social Care qualification: RNLD, RMHN, OT, MHSW, Counsellor
• Demonstrate current registration with a regulated professional body/organisation: NMC, HCPC, BPS, ACP, BACP
• Evidence of formal post‑graduate learning within a relevant CAMHS field or skill
• Profession specific additional qualifications (i.e LD, nurse prescriber, DBT, CBT, AMHP, family therapy or systemic practice)
• Evidence of formal post‑graduate learning within a relevant CAMHS field or skill
• Demonstrate extensive experience and expertise regarding delivering evidence‑based/best practice clinical interventions within CAMHS or related services and/or adult mental health settings.
• Demonstrate extensive experience of providing specialist CAMHS related consultation/training and advice to partner agencies
• Demonstrate clinical expertise and high levels of competency regarding assessing and managing children and young people with high clinical risk needs. This will include significant evidence of working within a positive risk management model of practice within either a mental health or learning disability setting.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
