ARRS Mental Health Practitioner – Primary Care, Tewkesbury GP Surgery, TWNS PCN

This is an exciting opportunity to improve the experience for individuals with mental health needs through early assessment and access to treatment and support, promoting mental health and well‑being within primary care. Embedded within Primary Care Networks (PCNs), ARRS Practitioners link with Gloucestershire Health and Care (GHC) NHS Foundation Trust, receiving supervision, training and governance support.

• Integrated member of the GP practice team, leading best practice across allocated surgeries.
• Work autonomously providing high‑volume assessment, diagnosis, and treatment appointments, and advising GPs on mental health issues.
• Improving links with community providers and navigating referrals to mental health services.
• Support annual mental health reviews for adults on the practice mental health register.
• Provide specialist advice, supervision and support to practice colleagues, including risk stratification of patients at risk of relapse.

• Provide a service for adults 18+ with varying levels of mental health needs, including SMI and complex emotional needs.
• Exercise professional autonomy, making critical judgments.
• Act as a practice leader, managing workload and improving services across professional boundaries.
• Navigate, liaise and refer to mental health services, voluntary and public sector agencies, and community support groups.
• Support delivery of annual mental health reviews for adults on the practice mental health register.
• Provide specialist advice, supervision and support to practice colleagues.

• Registered Mental Health Practitioner (e.g., RMN).

• Non‑Medical Prescriber.

• Significant recent clinical experience in assessment of mental health at Band 7 level.
• Front‑line experience of advanced assessment skills, determining nature and severity of mental illness/health.
• Extensive knowledge of the wider health and social care community and multidisciplinary working.
• Detailed knowledge of specialist mental health services’ organisation and operation.

• Contemporary experience working in a primary care setting.
• Experience of assessment and management of patients with mental health conditions in primary care.
• Experience of community mental health service in recovery/crisis teams.

• Resilient and able to manage a fast‑paced primary care workload.

• Confident to work without explicit supervision.

• Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per annum (pro‑rata).
• Band 7, Permanent, Full‑time/Part‑time.
