Position: B1.2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer

The B1.2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer is responsible for the certification and release to service of piston engine aeroplanes and associated systems in accordance with applicable aviation regulations specifically in a busy and growing Part-CAO. The role ensures aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and airworthiness. Provide guidance and mentorship for our training technicians to support them through their B1.2 licence requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Certify maintenance performed on piston engine aeroplanes within the scope of B1.2 licence privileges.
  • Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, defect rectification, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct inspections including Annual, 100-hour, ARC support (if approved), and progressive inspections.
  • Perform and certify engine, propeller, airframe, and mechanical systems maintenance.
  • Carry out system functional tests and ground runs as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved maintenance data (AMM, IPC, SBs, ADs, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Part ML, Part-CAO and company procedures.
  • Support audits and regulatory oversight activities.
  • Supporting the development of our training technicians through their B1.2 licence requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and human factors awareness.
Experience & Skills
  • Familiar with and have extensive experience in GA or piston aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience on aircraft types such as Tecnam, Cessna, Piper, Diamond would be preferable.
  • Good people, communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and airworthiness standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and maintenance data.
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Good engineering systems knowledge, proficiency in electronic record keeping.
Licence & Regulatory Requirements
  • Valid Part-66 B1.2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (Piston Engine Aeroplanes).
  • Type ratings relevant to company fleet (desirable or required depending on operation).
  • Human Factors, EWIS, and Fuel Tank Safety training (current).
  • Right to work in United Kingdom.
Working Conditions
  • Hangar and line maintenance environment.
  • Occasional out-of-hours or AOG support may be required.
  • Physical requirements include working at height, lifting components, and working in confined spaces.
